Congratulations to Birman & Ride legal executive Nigel Siegwart – winner of the 2016 University of Western Australia Open Mooting Competition. Nigel was declared the winner by Chief Justice Wayne Martin, Matthew Howard SC (Barrister, Francis Burt Chambers) and Nathan Collins (Partner, King & Wood Mallesons) on 1 September 2016 at the competition grand final held at the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Nigel also won the competition in 2015.
Nigel’s win is the latest in an extraordinary period of success in University advocacy for current and former Birman & Ride legal executive.
In 2014, Nigel together with Birman & Ride legal executive Cassandra Lee and Samuel Pack were grand finalists in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal National Mooting Competition. Also in 2014, Birman & Ride legal executive Rachael Coffey advanced to the semi-finals of the UWA negotiation competition.
In 2013, Nigel was a grand-finalist in the UWA Open Mooting Competition. Winning the mooting grand final that year was Scott Young – a former Birman & Ride legal executive. Also in 2013, Samuel and Gemma Little won the UWA Trial Advocacy Competition.
In 2009, Birman & Ride legal executive Tobias Young won the UWA Trial Advocacy Competition.
